Food for the day: Roasted Chicken



I know all the chicken will be cursing me but I don't care because I didn't cause their woe. Whether they like it or not, they must answer their clarion call inside our pots this season Hehehehe.

Anyways, as the spirit of this season is high, we will be preparing chicken periperi in the building. So grab you seat, take a pen and paper, and follow me closely as I make this yummy roasted whole chicken. But wait o! Am I going into that kitchen all alone? Abegi, follow me into the kitchen jare *wink*...

Ingredients
  • Whole chicken
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil
  • 4 cubes of seasonings 
  • 2 tablespoons of dried pepper
  • 1 bulb of onion 
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 1 ginger
  • 5 carrots 
  • Salt
Cooking Method.
  1. Kill chicken and remove all feathers using hot water (It's permitted in Nigeria to kill animals for food) but for those living outside Nigeria where killing animal of any sort by individual is prohibited can buy frozen chicken from designated outlets. Clean properly (inside and outside) with cold water and set aside to dry.
  2. Get a bowl, crush seasoning cubes, dry pepper, Salt, onions and carrot together and set aside. Grease the whole chicken with the vegetable oil and crushed items in the above bowl. Make sure you rub it very well both inside and outside of the whole chicken.
  3. Place the chicken on a roasting pan and roast for 2hours at 350 degree.
It's finally ready and you can savour the whole chicken this festive period with your loved ones.
