Simon Cowell has become a dad for the first time at age 54. His girlfriend Lauren Silverman gave birth to a baby boy at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC yesterday February 14th. The baby boy came into the world at 5:45 p.m and weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces. Simon was by Lauren's side for the birth of their son. Simon announced that the boy has been named Eric after his late dad.

“He’s incredible!” an overjoyed Cowell told the Daily News a few hours after the successful delivery of his first child. “His name is Eric, after my father.”
He said Lauren is doing “fine.”

“She’s healthy,” he added, noting that Eric came into the world weighing “six pounds, seven ounces.”
Asked about how he felt to become a father for the first time, Cowell was all smiles: “If feels great!”

Cowell, who also created “The X Factor” singing competition, was already grinning a couple hours before Eric’s birth when he arrived at Lenox Hill Hospital in the Upper East Side after hopping a private jet from England. He left as soon as he got word his honey had gone into labor. Silverman brought a little Cowell into the world in the exclusive maternity ward where Beyoncé Knowles gave birth two years ago to Blue Ivy Carter, her daughter with husband Jay-Z, sources said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Silverman was in the same $800-a-night delivery room where the performers became parents — a suite with sweeping views of the upper East Side, four flat-screen TVs, colorful abstract paintings and crystal candy bowls.
