The one who will be playing at home and who has just received his first-ever call-up to the Spanish national side, Diego Costa, is second in the race for the 'Pichichi' and will obviously be keen to score and climb to the top of the goalscoring charts. And of course his teammates will also be wanting him to hit the target, as every time he does, they win.
Atlético de Madrid has won all 20 of the matches in which the star forward has scored this season, and that figure would be 25 if matches from last term were factored in, including the cup final, and the first leg of the semi-final.
Altogether, ever since Costa, who was born in Brazil but will represent Spain at the World Cup finals, returned to Atlético de Madrid from his loan period at Rayo, he has scored in a total of 35 games, and his team has not lost a single one of those.
The other is Cristiano Ronaldo, who will be coming back to play in league matches after three weeks' suspension. He has an even more impressive record. In his five years in the Spanish league he has yet to experience scoring and losing in the same game. Real Madrid never ends up on the losing side if its most effective attacker successfully gets through an opposing defence.
