Britain was
given a display of just how quickly its weather can change today when
stormy downpours and dramatic thunderstorms overnight broke into
glorious sunshine and soaring temperatures this morning.
A
hot, muggy day yesterday produced the perfect conditions for dramatic
thunderstorms to sweep across many counties in southern Britain, with
more than 3,000 lightning bolts striking ground overnight.
But
today is on course to be hottest day of the year, with temperatures of
more than 32C sending Britons scrambling for the beach in a bid to cool
off.
London-based photographer Justin Stokes caught this photo of lightning
forking through the sky above Canary Wharf as large parts of the UK saw
thunderstorms
