They claimed they had parted ways on good terms, but their recent spat appears to suggest otherwise.
Things kicked off on Wedsneady morning when Calvin Harris hit back at his ex-girlfriend Rita Ora in a Twitter rant.
The 23-year-old pop princess recently claimed her former beau had banned her from performing their hit collaboration I Will Never Let You Down at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, forcing her to pull out at the last minute and disappointing her fans.
But Calvin Harris has now hit back at his ex-lover - with whom he parted ways in June - in a Twitter rant claiming he had 'a damn good reason' for calling off the performance.
The Scottish producer tweeted to his 4.6m followers on Wednesday morning: 'You'll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life. But just know I had a damn good reason."
He then added an emoticon of a waving hand, as if to publicly dismiss his former flame.
Rita has just arrived back in London after giving an interview to US radio DJ Ryan Seacrest in which she claimed Calvin didn't want her singing the track he penned as a tribute to their one-year romance before things went sour.
She told him: 'I was supposed to perform. [But Calvin] wrote and produced the song... [and] he owns the rights to it... so [he] has to approve anything TV-wise... He didn't approve the Teen Choice Awards.'
The host probed further into the two musicians' relationship, asking if there was any unresolved bitterness.
