With her new song Anaconda charting at number 19, Nicki Minaj has beaten Michael Jackson's tally of 50 Billboard Hot 100 hits.
According to Yahoo Music, the singer has now pulled ahead of Jackson with 51 charted songs to her name
'Made
history today,' Minaj announced on her Instagram account. 'I didn't
even know I was tied with Michael Jackson with 50 Hot 100 entries on
Billboard. Anaconda makes 51 and now I'm tied with Rod Stewart. God
bless, and thank you.'
Anaconda,
which charted at number 19, is Minaj's 20th Hot 100 hit as a lead
artist, while the rest of her charted singles have been featured
credits.
Jackson
in contrast, was the lead or co-lead artist in all 50 of his hits with
Slave To The Rhythm and Love Never Felt So Good both charting this year,
50 years after Got To Be There which made number four in the US Charts
back in 1971.
Minaj's first Hot 100 hit was as
a featured artist on Lil Wayne song Knockout back in February 2010. In
June the same year, she charted for the first time as a lead artist with
son Your Love.
The
cover of single Anaconda, which features on Minaj's forthcoming third
studio album The Pink Print, shows Minaj in rather racy pose in just a
pair of thong pink panties.
Minaj also currently features on another Billboard Hot 100 song - Bang Bang - a collaboration with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.
