Former Nigeria
goalkeeper Joseph Dosu has tipped the Super Eagles to improve in their
subsequent games as they fine-tune preparations for next month’s Fifa
World Cup.
A late minute goal by Uche Nwofor forced Scotland to a 2-2 draw in
Wednesday night’s international friendly at the Craven Cottage when they
seemed to be heading for victory following Charlie Mulgrew’s strike and
an own goal from Azubuike Egwuekwe.
The Atlanta 1996 Olympic
gold medalist insists that Stephen Keshi’s men, the bulk of which are
non-starters, had a nervy game but he is optimistic that the Super
Eagles will bounce back in their next two friendlies against Greece and
the USA.
“With three matches to the World Cup, I think they will get their
form back and the most important thing is that we did not lose,” Dosu
told Goal.
“Though not at our best, we will be playing the Greek national team
before facing the United States of America and with these matches the
Eagles should be able to get back to their form and be ready for the
Fifa World Cup.”
He however did not single out any department for close monitoring
insisting the key thing is that the players play as a single unit.
“The basic thing is togetherness of the boys, playing together as a
team. For me, the player that did very well is Joseph Yobo. He gave his
best and he certainly has done well for himself.
“With our next two games, the players should be able to understand
themselves. The team work is very important and not an individual game,”
he added.
“It will be too early for us to start celebrating our draw against
Scotland but one thing is sure, it will give them the confidence to face
the Greek side and I am very sure they will play better than what they
did today.
“The game against the United States of America will be the big one
where we can now judge where we will get to at the World Cup. In
summary, the team has not done too badly as they will step up their game
in forthcoming matches,” he concluded.
