Wiz Khalifa is eager to release
his new mixtape, “28 Grams,” but there’s one thing holding the rapper
back: he’s been arrested for marijuana possession in Texas.
On Sunday morning (May 25), Khalifa was arrested for marijuana possession while attempting to fly from El Paso to Dallas, according to TMZ.
The Transportation Security Administration turned the rapper over to
local police after discovering a “green leafy substance,” the website
reports.
Not long after, Khalifa tweeted
a picture of himself sitting in a jail cell. “I wanna drop 28 Grams but
they got me locced up. Soon as I get out, the tapes comin out. Fucc
that,” he tweeted.
This isn’t the rapper’s first run-in with the law. In May 2012, police caught him with marijuana
following a performance at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum
in Winston-Salem, N.C. A month prior to that, Khalifa was charged with
marijuana possession in Nashville.
On the red carpet at last week’s Billboard Music Awards, Khalifa said
his new album, "Blacc Hollywood," will be released sometime around
August after his upcoming North American tour with Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign,
Mack Wilds, Rich Homie Quan and DJ Drama.
"The album is going to come right after the tour,” Khalifa said. “I’m
going to use the tour to set it up and get 'em ready for it."
