Less than a week before the World Cup kicks off, a television network decided to pay tribute to Maradona, Batistuta and Leo Messi by placing a statue of each of them in an emblematic square in the Recoleta district of Buenos Aires.
"I'm very happy. I never imagined I would receive a tribute like this. It makes me proud and I'm very grateful to you," said Messi.
The image of Messi immortalises him celebrating a goal with his hands pointing to the heavens – the striker's characteristic dedication to his grandmother.
