Unsure of himself between the posts, letting in too many goalsand whistled at by fans in his own back yard: 15 years after making his Real Madrid debut,Iker Casillas is going through what is both a very worrying and unprecedented run of form.
The 2-1 home defeat to Atlético and yet another goal conceded from a set piece have not only seen him lose his aura of Real Madrid's saviour, but also seen many sections of the Bernabéu turn on him.
Tiago's 10th minute goal from yet another corner infuriated large sections of the Bernabéu faithful. 33-year-old Casillas bore the full brunt of the fans' disappointment, which has finally spilled over after building up over the past two seasons.
Mourinho is largely responsible for what has happened. He was the first Real Madrid boss to question Casillas and that opened the door to fans passing judgement on one of Real Madrid's most important players of the last decade.
Casillas has become the scapegoat for Real Madrid's disastrous start to the new season: three points from three games and with six out of seven shots against them finding the back of Casillas' net.
Just two days before Real kick off their Champions League campaign, Casillas needs to improve his performances with an eager Keylor Navas breathing down his neck.
