Sir Elton
John stopped his concert in Germany to reflect on the lost life of young
Australian batsman, Phillip Hughes, who sadly passed away on Thursday.
The
British singer, 67, dedicated his iconic song, Don’t Let The Sun Go
Down On Me, to the 25-year-old who tragically died in Sydney's St
Vincent Hospital two days after being struck by a bouncer ball to the
neck at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Performing
in Munich, Germany at Olympiahalle Arena on Thursday night the composer
and cricket fan said to his large crowd of fans:
'I am a big huge sports fan and I love cricket which you don’t know anything about over here.'
Continuing his speech after a slight pause, the Academy, Grammy and Tony award winner said:
'Today
an Australian batsman called Phil Hughes died of injuries he received
while batting in Sydney in Australia and the man who bowled the ball is a
22-year-old called Sean Abbott and it wasn’t his fault, it was a freak
accident.
