Elton John dedicates song to late Australian batsman Phillip Hughes

Sir Elton John stopped his concert in Germany to reflect on the lost life of young Australian batsman, Phillip Hughes, who sadly passed away on Thursday.
The British singer, 67, dedicated his iconic song, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, to the 25-year-old who tragically died in Sydney's St Vincent Hospital two days after being struck by a bouncer ball to the neck at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Performing in Munich, Germany at Olympiahalle Arena on Thursday night the composer and cricket fan said to his large crowd of fans:
'I am a big huge sports fan and I love cricket which you don’t know anything about over here.'
A life lost too soon: Sir Elton John dedicated his 1974 song, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, to Phillip who tragically died in Sydney's St Vincent Hospital on Thursday after being struck by a bouncer ball to the neck on Tuesday at Sydney Cricket Ground
Continuing his speech after a slight pause, the Academy, Grammy and Tony award winner said:
'Today an Australian batsman called Phil Hughes died of injuries he received while batting in Sydney in Australia and the man who bowled the ball is a 22-year-old called Sean Abbott and it wasn’t his fault, it was a freak accident.

'And to Sean Abbott, all I can say is that it is going to take you a long time to get over this but you have a huge future ahead of you so please don’t give up. This is for you Phil, wherever you are.'
With lyrics like 'I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free' and 'losing everything is like the sun going down on me' were some of the touching vocals that filled the silent and reflective European arena
Supporting Sean: The young fast bowler was one of around 200 players, officials and supporters who gathered at the SCG on Friday to remember the Australian batsmanSean, who has been comforted by members of the Hughes family, is receiving counselling amid fears he will never be able to play the game again
