Luis Suarez
has revealed he's unable to shed any light on why he was snubbed for the
Ballon d’Or because he's never understood how it works.
The
former Liverpool striker said he was surprised not to make the 23-man
shortlist but conceded his biting ban did not help his cause. #WATCH video below:
Speaking
before Uruguay’s match with Costa Rica on Thursday, Suarez said:
'Everyone can draw their own conclusions. I've never understood the
Ballon d’Or, not only now but in recent years, what the qualification
is, whether it's from July to June or January to December I don't know
when they make it
'It
looks like they did after July and they considered the World Cup too
but I prefer to keep quiet than say anything more, maybe they will
suspend me.'
Suarez
scored 31 goals in the Barclays Premier League, was crowned both the
PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year, and came within a whisker
of leading Liverpool to the title.
