J. Cole may not be a winner to the Grammys, but he is most definitely having one of the best weeks ever for a rapper. On Friday night, while he sat in the audience at the Vibe Impact Awards, Nas (one of the greatest to ever do it), paid him the ultimate compliment when he told him:
J. Cole, I need you for my next album! I see you standing here 20 years from now bro. So keep doing what you are doing. It won’t be too many but I definitely see you going beyond 20 years.
Yesterday, the North Carolina rapper celebrated his birthday with a huge show at Madison Square Garden, and not only did he bring out Kendrick Lamar, but Jay Z also graced the stage for two songs before gifting J. Cole with the original Roc-A-Fella chain. “That on your neck is my original Roc chain, and its yours,” he told J. Cole.
The big moment came hours after it was announced that Cole’s Dreamville label had inked a deal with Interscope Records. J. Cole’s manager and business partner Ibrahim tweeted:
My Driver just asked me where I’m going and I told him “Madison Square Garden”… That sh-t felt so good lol
Me and my Business partner/brother Cole worked 7 years to develop Dreamville… Thank you to Interscope for making our dreams come true
