The world's most famous bachelor no more! A look back at the past loves of George Clooney

Last year he said he hadn't met the love of his life yet, but now it seems the search is well and truly over for George Clooney.

After a whirlwind romance with British human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, George is ready to walk down the aisle once more and promise his love in front of friends and family in Venice.

And on the even of his wedding that no one ever thought would happen, AlwaysNaija looks back at some of the world's most famous bachelor's romances.

Talia had actually dated George for three years before Kelly, and got back together two years later before driving to Vegas in a Winnebago to tie the knot.

Their 1989 wedding was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator, but after three years the couple divorced after reported arguments about money.

Clooney admitted in a Vanity Fair interview: 'I probably – definitely – wasn't someone who should have been married at that point. I just don't feel like I gave Talia a fair shot.'

George's next girlfriend was actress Kimberly Russell.

He dumped her in 1995 (by letter rather than face-to-face) allegedly because he wanted to see other women and take advantage of his blossoming fame after starring in TV drama ER.

After the split Kimberley said: ‘You have to enjoy the ride while it lasts — he’s simply not the marrying kind. The guy is an absolute charmer, but just don’t mention the words “marriage, commitment or babies”.’

George then moved away from actresses and towards a three month fling with Swedish supermodel Vendela Kirsebom.

They had met at an Oscars party in 1996, and he was said to be smitten, though allegedly seeing other women at the same time.

Clooney enjoyed an even shorter romance with MTV presenter Karen Duffy. The pair enjoyed a handful of dates in 1996 but it ended amicably with Karen joining him on holiday back in 2010.

George met French law student Celine Balitran while filming The Peacemaker in Paris, and she was supporting herself through school as a part-time waitress.

During their relationship she told People: 'When I have to get up early, he insists I wake him. It's out of the question to start the day without having breakfast together. We wake up in each other's arms, and we can't wait for evening to be together again.'

She moved to Los Angeles to live with him and they continued dating until 1999, when his reported preference to spending time with his pals proved too much for Celine.

A year later, the actor was seen zooming around Hollywood on his Harley Davidson with actress Traylor Howard clinging on.

Traylor's hopes of getting him to settle down proved futile as he was also linked to model Angie Everhart at the same time.

Mariella always insisted that it was platonic between them, and they have remained friends ever since with George acting as godfather to her two children.

His second longest relationship was with another Brit, the former model-turned-radio presenter Lisa Snowdon.

They dated on and off for five years though Lisa never moved into his Los Angeles home. Having met on the set of a Martini commercial in 2000, and the final three years were said to be angst-filled.

However, Lisa became one of the rare ladies in his life to send him packing rather than the other way round.

‘Work almost totally dried up,' Lisa said of how her career suffered because of being seen as George's arm candy.

'People saw me living a new life and thought I wouldn’t be interested in modelling again.'

During those off periods it seems that George may well have been dating Renee Zellwegger after the were spotted enjoying dinner together in 2001, 2003 and in 2006.

The couple - who starred in 2008's Leatherheads together - seemed to have different ideas about their relationship as Renee said they 'were just old friends' while George has said they dated 'a little bit.'

George also dated Baywatch and Days Of Our Lives star Krista Allen between 2002 and 2004 during his off periods with Lisa.

They dated again in 2006 when he was between girlfriends, and there was yet another reunion in 2008 making it a total of nine months together.

In 2007 he hooked up with Las Vegas cocktail waitress Sarah Larson, who was devastated that she was dumped instead of taken down the aisle.

At least she got a Harper's Bazaar cover out of it.

Another willowy brunette followed in the form of Italian Model and MTV presenter Elisabetta Canalis.

George kept on going back to Baywatch star Krista Allen between 2002 and 2004

She met George in 2009 and they were an item for two years until she gave an indiscreet interview about their future prospects.

Elisabetta was also said to have attended Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s bunga bunga parties, which she denies.

The same year he split from Canalis he started dating the 'the Legs of WWE'.

Stacy Keibler, a model-turned wrestling star, stepped out with George for the first time at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival, and while they enjoyed a good two years together, his seeming lack of interest in starting a family forced her to end it.

'Stacy called it quits. She wants to have children and a family someday. She knows where George stands on that,' a source close to the couple told People.
