"Better to play them in the quarter-finals"

Manchester City could face any one of the three Spanish teams in the draw for the knock-out stages of the Champions League: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético. The four Spaniards plying their trade in Pellegrini's side - Negredo, Navas, Silva and Javi García - spoke to MARCA about the teams they could be drawn against.

They all acknowledged the Spanish teams' quality although they will eagerly face any opponent they draw. Silva summarised: "It would be better if we could avoid a Spanish side. That would mean facing them further ahead in the quarter-finals and progressing further in the tournament.
Q: Is it the end of an era for Barcelona?
David Silva: They're first in everything. It’s hard to keep playing at that level and they've managed to do it in recent seasons. Now people say that they aren't playing well, but they're top of the table in La Liga and the Champions League. I'd love to be in their shoes.
Q: Is Neymar Messi's replacement?
Álvaro Negredo: It isn't easy to make the move from a league like Brazil's to Spain's, and Barcelona plays a very unique brand of football. Once he settles and finds his feet at Barcelona, he's going to be one of the best in the world.
Q: Bale is showing a great eye for goal
Javi García: He already scored a lot of goals last season. What I didn't expect was for him to settle so quickly at Madrid. 'Los Blancos' are a very attacking side capable of creating lots of chances, so Bale could score a hatful this season.
Q: Can Atlético keep up its good start?
Jesús Navas: I'm sure it will: Simeone is a very demanding coach. Atleti will be there until the end.
