Hip-hop producer Andre
Romelle Young known by his stage name Dr. Dre
is taking legal action against bosses behind a group of Chinese websites
selling illegal counterfeits of his hugely popular Beats by Dre headphones.
The rap icon recently sold his high-end Beats
Electronics audio equipment company to Apple bosses for a whopping $3 billion,
and now he’s determined to crack down on cheap Chinese-made knock-offs which he
claims are damaging his reputation.
He has filed suit against the site owners in question, citing trademark infringement as the fake products bear his red ‘b’ logo.
He is demanding a stop to the sales of forged goods and is seeking to claim all profits from the counterfeit headphones and accessories, which he believes amount to more than $135 billion in revenue, reports TMZ.com.
